Then someone looks at you for the first time.

You think you've been heard,
Then someone listens to your deepest desires and fears.

You think you've seen beauty,
Then someone lifts the veil, revealing yet another layer.

You think you know what love is,
Then you find yourself wrapped inside of it.

You think you understand mankind,
Then a stranger's act of kindness moves you to tears.

You think you can recognize the heavens and perhaps grasp infinity,
But that, we must all wait in wonder for the great reveal.

It's hard to write when I'm content.
I need to feel pulled apart,
From all that is around me.
That's when I see best.

Layer upon layer,
Everything they think I am,
Falls away.
Oz unveiled.

There you are,
The real you.
The only One you'll ever know,
And hope to truly love.

We sit quietly and watch.
The snow falls,
A steady constant,
Like the world around us.

Trees standing, waiting...
And the forever sky sees all.

I realize I am all of that,
Every ice crystal,
Sun ray,
Even every person.

We are everything,
Through and through.
A resonating white noise,
Heard over,
And over,
And over,

Only stopping,
When you busy yourself,
Or so it seems...

Spend time with her,

Be kind to her.

How long will it be,

‘Til you pay no mind to her?

How long will it be,

Your words turn unkind to her?

Will it be six months, a year,

When you give her the first tear?

And will she be so quick to forgive,

When you flash your charming grin?

Smoothing over your harsh words,

With dreamy promises to her.

Will she believe as I once did,

All the wondrous things you said.

And tow the line for you,

Hold patiently, not question you.

If she can do this,

She’ll be rewarded with your kiss.

I hope you find this saintly girl,

Who loves to be part of Your world.

Always a champ,

Expects nothing back.

And I in my ‘selfish’ garb will go,

To find a place where love flows,

Without the dams of condemnation,

No reservoirs of degradation.

But in a cool river of bliss,

Is where I’ll find my happiness.

Given a set of circumstances.

People watch.

Amidst this organized--unpredictable,
Game.

And you truly can't reflect,
When you're deep in,
The game.

What you should have done,
What your teammate could have done,
And what simply could not be avoided,
Until,
The game,
Is over.

All of them.
Blue when she's sad,
Red when she's mad.
Silver on cloud nine,
White when she's fine.
Pink when she's hot,
Gray when she's not.
Purple- majestic,
Orange- eclectic.
Rust from her scorn,
Black as she mourns.
Ivory for peace,
Teal- release.
Brown for the sow,
Green just to grow.
Yellow for sunshine,
Tan in the meantime.
All of them good.
She feels,
As she should.

A Mother Dies

Her heart aches,
With the endless cycle,
Of feigned reciprocity.
Suckling babes,
Cutting teeth,
Feeding their self indulgence.
Justifying their sins,
With their mother's sacrifice.
Her face is Jesus.
Crying, hurting, bleeding.
Dying for the sins of her own,
When all she ever wanted,
Was peace.

The Spring

There’s not much time to stop- reflect.

There’s too much going on.

But words are crackin’ in my neck,

As they struggle to come out.

Like the low branch of a tree,

Stuck under the ice, debris,

Ready to spring,

When the sun sets her free.

No longer grounded,

Her heart is pounding.

And to the sky her reach will grow,

Away from that below.

Bursting with new life,

She puts on quite the show.

Fanning plumes of foliage,

A dancer with the know.

To Heaven! To Bliss!

There is nothing like this.

Just a beautiful climb,

To the top where she’ll find,

A happily, ever after…rhyme

She saw the truth,

Ran to the door,

Unlocked the door,

The thread of hope she had weaved.

All along, through the dark pain and dread,

One golden thread now gleamed.

As she looked ahead, there he stood.

The thread leading her to him,

Here was the boy with the big golden heart,

Gently pulling her in.

And he was to her, what she was to him,

Surely a dream come true.

And she said the words that he wanted to say,

Because both of them already knew.

That fate has a way of working things out,

Of showing two souls the way.

Down a new path that’s bold, one that’s covered with gold,

Where love shines upon them all day.
